Growing up as the daughter of the prestigious Donghe Group, Xiang Yuan (Wu Qian) has always been acutely aware of the immense responsibilities that would inevitably fall upon her shoulders. However, when fate tasks her with the monumental challenge of rescuing the Xi’an branch of her family’s company from the clutches of bankruptcy, she accepts this daunting mission with unwavering grace and indomitable determination.

Even though Xiang Yuan had mentally prepared herself for the arduous task that lay ahead, she could never have foreseen the unexpected encounter awaiting her upon her arrival—an encounter with none other than her former crush, Xu Yan Shi (Vin Zhang). Back in their school days, Yan Shi’s irresistible charms had captured Xiang Yuan’s heart, though her efforts to win his affection had sadly been in vain. This reunion, after all these years, fills the air with a palpable awkwardness. Yet, against all odds, Xiang Yuan and Yan Shi manage to forge an extraordinary bond, transcending their past and embracing an unforeseen friendship.

While Xiang Yuan toils relentlessly to salvage the faltering branch of her family’s empire, Yan Shi grapples with the relentless injustice that shadows his path as he strives to pursue his dream of becoming a navigation engineer. In their unwavering support of one another, Xiang Yuan and Yan Shi discover an unyielding strength that propels them toward the realization of their deepest aspirations.

Review

I couldn’t contain my excitement when I learned that two of my favorite actors would be starring together in a single series. As someone who isn’t particularly fond of historical dramas, it felt like a fortuitous alignment of stars to bring these talented individuals together in a modern romantic comedy. What truly distinguishes this series and enhances the viewing experience is the remarkable sensibility that emanates from both of its lead characters.

Gone are the days of the stereotypical damsel in distress, desperately in need of attention and constant care from her male counterpart. Xiang Yuan, the female lead, breaks free from that confining mold, exuding strength, independence, and a refreshing sense of self-reliance. She’s a character who possesses the ability to stand on her own. Adding to her allure is the intriguing fact that she conceals her true identity from her officemates, creating anticipation among viewers as we eagerly await their reaction when the truth is eventually unveiled in the later episodes leading up to the finale.

On the other hand, Xu Yanshi, the male lead, is burdened with an abundance of responsibilities, primarily stemming from the intricate web of his family matters. It’s this complexity that adds depth to his character, drawing us further into the narrative and making us empathize with the challenges he faces. Despite the weight he carries, he remains endearing and relatable, striking a perfect balance between vulnerability and resilience.

Both of these characters effortlessly won over my heart, and I found myself eagerly following their journey episode after episode.

Nuanced Exploration of Tech and Business

While the series revolves around the tech and business industry, it refrains from overwhelming the audience with excessive technical details, ensuring accessibility for a wider range of viewers. Instead, it sheds light on the injustices prevailing within the upper echelons of these industries, particularly regarding the unequal distribution of responsibilities and fair wages between men and women. Rather than solely focusing on the specifics of Xu Yanshi’s developments, the series emphasizes the arduous struggles both characters endure on their path towards achieving milestones.

Light Plot

This series offers a delightful escape from the pressures of everyday life with its lighthearted storyline. It provides much-needed entertainment that allows viewers to immerse themselves in a world of laughter and romance.

While conflicts and misunderstandings are an integral part of any production, this series sets itself apart through its skillful handling of such situations. The occasional scenes highlighting misunderstandings, whether among the side characters or between the leads, are tactfully written and executed. They serve not as mere plot devices, but rather as opportunities for growth, exploration, and eventual resolution. These moments add a sense of realism and ensure that the characters’ journeys remain relatable and compelling.

Memorable and Supportive Side Characters

No successful drama is complete without memorable supporting characters, and this series is no exception. It introduces a diverse cast of side characters, each deserving of your attention. Their interactions and relationships with the leads contribute to the overall enjoyment of the series, offering additional layers of depth and entertainment.

Overall Verdict

In conclusion, this series is definitely one that perfectly embodies the true definition of a romantic comedy drama and deserves a spot on your watchlist. It captivates with its talented lead actors, nuanced exploration of tech and business, and memorable side characters. It provides an enjoyable escape, while highlighting important themes and delivering a relatable and compelling viewing experience.
